It was really nice to come "home" to Grenada after almost 6 years especially as we had now completed our circumnavigation. YIPPEE !!!!!

This totalled some 40,669 miles over 5 years, 11 months, 3 weeks and 1 day...

Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our first beer and then cracked open a bottle of Bubbly to celebrate before falling asleep !!!

Even our little circumnavigator Monty was exhausted...

Grenada holds some very special memories for us so it was fitting that we completed our loop here in Prickly Bay.

Our first visit to the Caribbean was to Grenada back in 2001 to visit our good friends Graham & Belinda Ritchie on their yacht “Legend of Oz”. It was that holiday that convinced us that we wanted to become Cruisers and “go sail around the World”. Sadly, Graham is no longer with us but we were sure that he was celebrating our achievement and raising a glass of Rum Punch to us somewhere up there...

Also, our first Ocean passage on El Vagabond was across the Atlantic in 2006 and our landfall was Prickly Bay.

Roger relaxing after our Atlantic Crossing back in 2006...

Nothing much has changed in Prickly Bay and it seems almost impossible that, since we were last anchored here, we had crossed the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, completed another Atlantic Crossing and sailed round 3 Southern Capes.... We kept pinching ourselves!!!

Enjoying the Caribbean sunshine...

It was great to be walking around again in the Caribbean sunshine and we were delighted to see that our old Chinese Restaurant - the Choo Lights - was still in business. We had to stop by for Dinner and absolutely nothing had changed...

We were only planning to stay in Grenada for a couple of weeks but this soon turned into almost 5 – surprisingly, this was not due to our lethargy but the fact that the Fridge repairman, Oscar, only worked on Caribbean time..... Not only was he very slow but, having replaced numerous parts, we then had to buy a whole new fridge which he installed badly !!! Hey ho, at least it meant that we managed to catch up with our old friend Neil (Adonde) who is now living in Grenada permanently.

Unfortunately, his wife Tracy was in the UK whilst we were there so we missed seeing her. Roger and Neil ran with the 'Hash House Harriers' on a couple of Saturday afternoons and we all enjoyed one or two beers over at the Prickly Bay Marina “Tiki Bar” - just like the old days...

Anchored in our "old spot"

Not sure if Monty actually remembered the Calabash Hotel beach from when he was a puppy but he certainly exhausted himself running around with Basil.

We finally left Grenada on 4th June and sailed up to Tyrells Bay in Carriacou. We stopped there ovenight and then had one more daysail to Bequia where we stopped for a couple of days so that Roger could have one last swim in the warm Caribbean Sea.

We left for Newport, Rhode Island on 7th June.
